Theme Tune Lyrics
Once upon a time in a little new york flat,
A man and his pets include an intelligent Meer cat,
There’s a turtle, a badger, a crab and a dog,
A man and a briefcase with a crappy low life job,
He’s the Ani-man with no pension plan
Welcome to the ani-man clan!

Top 10 Cartoon Characters
The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show (known as Rocky & His Friends during its first two seasons and as The Bullwinkle Show for the remainder of its run) is an American animated television series that originally aired from November 19, 1959 to June 27, 1964 on the ABC and NBC television networks. Produced by Jay Ward Productions, the series is structured as a variety show, with the main feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and flying squirrel Rocky. The main adversaries in most of their adventures are the Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale.

Wile E. Coyote (also known simply as "The Coyote") and The Road Runner are a duo of cartoon characters from a series of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. The characters (a coyote and Greater Roadrunner) were created by animation director Chuck Jones in 1948 for Warner Bros., while the template for their adventures was the work of writer Michael Maltese. The characters star in a long-running series of theatrical cartoon shorts (the first 16 of which were written by Maltese) and occasional made-for-television cartoons.
Popeye the Sailor is a cartoon fictional character created by Elzie Crisler Segar, who has appeared in comic strips and animated cartoons in the cinema as well as on television. He first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre on January 17, 1929. Popeye also became the strip's title in later years.

The devious, anti-holiday spirit of the character has led to the name "Grinch" becoming a term used to describe a person opposed to Christmas time celebrations or to someone with a coarse, greedy attitude. In fact, a document in the live-action film (the Book of Who) stated that "The term Grinchy shall apply when Christmas spirit is in short supply".

Frederick “Fred” Flintstone, also known as Fred W. Flintstone or Frederick J. Flintstone, is the protagonist of the animated sitcom The Flintstones, which aired during prime-time on ABC during the original series' run from 1960-66. He is the husband of Wilma Flintstone and father of Pebbles Flintstone. His best friends are his next door neighbors, Barney and Betty Rubble, who have an adopted son named Bamm-Bamm.
Charles "Charlie" Brown is the protagonist in the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz.
Charlie Brown and his creator are both the sons of barbers, but whereas Schulz's work is described as the "most shining example of the American success story", Charlie Brown is an example of "the great American un-success story" in that he fails in almost everything he does.
Bartholomew JoJo "Bart" Simpson is a fictional main character in the animated television series The Simpsons and part of the Simpson family. He is voiced by actress Nancy Cartwright and first appeared on television in The Tracey Ullman Show short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Bart was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening while he was waiting in the lobby of James L. Brooks' office.

Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons and the patriarch of the eponymous family. He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta and first appeared on television, along with the rest of his family, in The Tracey Ullman Show short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Homer was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening while he was waiting in the lobby of James L. Brooks' office. Groening had been called to pitch a series of shorts based on his comic strip Life in Hell but instead decided to create a new set of characters. He named the character after his father, Homer Groening. After appearing for three seasons on The Tracey Ullman Show, the Simpson family got their own series on Fox that debuted December 17, 1989.

Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at The Walt Disney Studio. Mickey is an anthropomorphic black mouse and typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. He is one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in the world and is the mascot of The Walt Disney Company, the world's largest media conglo9merate in terms of annual revenue.

Bugs Bunny is an American animated character created in 1938 at Leon Schlesinger Productions, later Warner Bros. Cartoons. Bugs is an anthropomorphic gray hare or rabbit and is famous for his flippant, insouciant personality and his portrayal as a trickster. He has primarily appeared in animated cartoons, most notably the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of theatrical short films. His popularity there led to his becoming a corporate mascot of the Warner Bros. company. Bugs has appeared in more films than any other cartoon character and is the ninth most portrayed film personality in the world.

Cartoon Research

The most commonly used genre for cartoons are adventure comedies, this genre can be found it popular cartoons such as ‘Family Guy’, ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Futurama’ (However, Futurama does also contain a sci-fi elements). Other cartoons have a more family genre, for example ‘Disney’ and ‘ Warner Bros. Looney Toons’. These cartoons are based at younger children but can still ben enjoyed by the whole family. These particular cartoons are some of the most successful due to their ability to attract such large audiences. ‘Spongebob Squarepants’ is Nickelodeon's highest rated show. It has a genre that contains comedy, adventure fantasy and family. It is targeted at a young male and female group aged between 7 – 12 year olds. Its simple techniques work perfectly for its target audience, there is nothing to complex or hard to understand and (in some cases) can be educational, ending with good morals and intentions.
Cartoons such as ‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’ (both created by Seth MacFarlane) contain adult humour and are aimed at a male audience of 15 – 25 year olds. These are two of the most successful animated comedy series’ ever created and are still on the up. However, there have been issues with the creation of Family Guy, including three distinctive Lawsuits for using inappropriate music, names and allegations about people without their consent. This resulted in a major loss of money for ‘20th Century Fox’ (The broadcaster for Family Guy). This is something I would need to be careful of if were to create a similar artefact to this.
Disney is the largest cartoon foundation in the world. All in all, they have made over 500 productions including a range of films from ‘Aladdin’ to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.  Part of their success is down to their loveable character, Mickey Mouse. He is one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in the world and is the mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Mickey debuted in November 1928 in the animated cartoon Steamboat Willie after initially appearing in test screenings earlier that year. He went on to appear in over 130 films including The Band Concert (1935), Brave Little Tailor (1938), and Fantasia (1940). Mickey appeared primarily in short films, but also in a few feature-length films. Nine of Mickey's cartoons were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, one of which, Lend a Paw, won the award in 1942. In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Manage

For my extended project I am going to start to produce a new cartoon sit-com. I am going to develop the characters, the theme music and a script of a scene from the first epeisode. The tasks will be carried out in that order. First I am going to produce the characters. My sit-com is going to revolve around the life of a family, much like Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Task
Time
Designing the Characters
3 Hours
Developing the Characters (colours, size, clothes etc.)
3 Hours
Finalizing the drawings.
1 Hour, 30 Mins

Next I'm going to produce the theme music for my cartoon. I will need to research into existing theme music from cartoons. This will give me an idea of how create my piece. I will be looking for patterns, if they use repitition, the type of voices/accents. Then that will give me a clear overview of how I should go about my production.

Task
Time
Research Into 5 Existing Theme Tracks
2 Hours
Analyse Each Theme Track in Depth
2 Hours
Compare and Review how well they did/or didn’t work
2 Hours, 30 Mins

Lastly I'm going to right the opening scene of my sit-com. This is to be done last so that all the characters and ideas have been completely develpoed. As well as these three main tasks I need to produce a clear outline of what the sit-com will involve each episode. To do this I will research again into other existing sit-coms to gather information on what is popular and what stories people will like the most. To gather this information I will create a questionairre and ask people of a suitable age group thet will help my investigation.

Task
Time
Questionnaire on peoples favourite cartoons/sit-coms
2 Hours
Reflect on information found, analyse the information.

Cartoon Ideas
#1 – A divorced man lives in a flat on his own. To compensate for not having a wife or any friends, he owns five strange but friendly talking animals. The animals consist of an obnoxious crab, a responsible turtle, a racist badger, an intelligent Meer cat and his most loyal companion; the loveable dog. The first six episodes would include each animal getting the main protagonist into trouble, the sixth episode would be a problem solved by the whole group.  12 Age group.
2# - Two friends travel around the country in their caravan. The caravan is very shabby and breaks down in a different city every episode. Each episode would include the two guys trying to fix a problem with the terrible vehicle. 12+ Age Group
3# - A dim-witted policeman is on the right road for the sack unless he bucks up his ideas and stops letting criminals get away. As he walks home from work one night, he notices a dog in an alley way. Suddenly the dog begins to speak to him, at first the policeman is confused but due to his lack of intelligence, a talking dog is nothing to worry about. He begins talking to the dog, he tells the dog of his misfortune at work and how he’s almost certainly going to get fired. After a long walk home, the policeman makes a deal with the dog. If the policeman lets him into his flat and live there, the dog will help him solve crimes and stop criminals. They agree and become best friends, solving crimes in very unorthodox manners. 12+ Age group
